The body in which He bore sin, and the blood by which He received the judgment in our place Jesus came to this earth in a human body, said, “Thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness” (Matthew 3:15), and received baptism from John. At that time He had all the sins of the world transferred to Him once and for all. Not only our sins of yesterday, but also our sins of today and the sins we will commit until the day we die are included in that sin of the world. With the body that had borne our sins in this way, the Lord was hung on the Cross. Therefore, His shedding of blood and death cannot remain merely at the explanation that they were unjust suffering undergone by One without sin. It is the event in which Jesus, who bore our sins, received in our place the judgment we were to receive.
