Examine what you believe before the Lord As we read about the sorrow of the disciples, we come to think of the instability of our own hearts. But if we stop at confirming that instability, then even after hearing the Lord’s word we end up looking for the answer only within ourselves. The basis that makes salvation certain does not lie in our resolution that we will never be shaken. Just as the word says, “The chastisement for our peace was upon Him” (Isaiah 53:5), the work of Jesus, who bore our sins and received the judgment, is that basis. We must lay down the heart that puts forward its own righteousness and believe in this salvation.
