Jesus warned, “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘Look, He is there!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect” (Mark 13:21–22). When our hearts are pressed by the tribulation, a person who shows amazing things easily looks like a savior. But Jesus revealed precisely such things beforehand and said not to believe them. The amazement before our eyes cannot become grounds for overturning the word of the Lord.
