The four disciples, who were facing the temple on the Mount of Olives, asked Jesus about the time when that building would collapse and about the sign. They wanted to know the meaning of the word they had heard earlier. Yet the answer Jesus gave first was the warning “Take heed that no one deceives you” (Mark 13:5). Even when we learn about the things that will happen in the future, what we must keep first is our faith in the Lord. If we are led by false people while priding ourselves on knowing much about the future, we end up losing the purpose of learning the word.
