Show Notes

Ordinarily, the resurrection does not feel very real to us. Even while we keep Easter every year and praise the risen Lord every Sunday, there are particular times when dying and living again comes to us as our own matter. Those times are when we stand before the tomb of a beloved saint who has left the world before us, or when our own bodies grow weak and we come to think about death. At such times, the hearts of those who have the faith that they will live again and of those who do not are completely different. Mark chapter 16 begins with the news about Jesus, who was crucified, “He is risen! He is not here” (Mark 16:6), and continues on to the scene in which the Lord rebukes the disciples who did not believe that resurrection.
