What they prepared was a place to eat food, but at that table Jesus would make known His own body and the blood of the covenant, saying, “Take, eat; this is My body” (Mark 14:22). This scene of preparing the Passover is connected with the word of salvation that follows. While the disciples were preparing the food and the room, the Lord was walking the way on which He would give Himself up for sinners. The reason we, too, serve by following Jesus’ word is that we know what He has done for us.
