The passage does not call Judas’ plan a good opportunity. It became a joy to the people who sought to kill Jesus, but it was the way of betraying the Son of God. Not every way becomes right just because people welcome it and promise a reward. What our hearts are turned toward is revealed in whether that way exalts Christ or makes us forsake Him. We must not read this word only as a story of someone else’s betrayal, but must examine our own faith.
