Because the name of Christ is on him People of the world treat others coldly if they bring them no benefit. But the Lord promised, “For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward” (Mark 9:41). Ordinarily, anyone gives water. Even so, the reason He does not forget that cup of water is that it was given because the person belongs to Christ. It means that the Lord blesses a person who values the Lord’s people, and punishes a person who despises and mistreats the Lord’s people. In Mark chapter 9, there appear in turn the disciples who argued over who was the greatest, the little child set in their midst, the one who did not follow them, and the little ones who may stumble. How the Lord tells us to treat a person who has the name of Christ is the teaching of this chapter.
