This is also a necessary caution for us who preach the word. If we keep only the parts that people would like and take out the word concerning sin and salvation, we may get a comfortable response. However, with words changed in that way, we cannot accurately preach the salvation that the Lord has accomplished. Only when the one who preaches first treasures the word can he introduce that truth to the hearers as well. If we love a person, we must treasure his hearing the true gospel more than an immediate favorable response.
