This is not something I am saying on my own. Did not the Lord say in the Gospels, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me” (Mark 8:34)? He also said, “There is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life” (Mark 10:29–30). In following the Lord, becoming distant from one’s children or parents naturally follows as well. If we say we cannot do such things, how can we follow the Lord?
