Simon a Cyrenian, who was coming out of the country and passing by, was seized and was made to bear the cross of Jesus against his will. The soldiers dragged Jesus to Golgotha and crucified Him. However, the fact that Simon bore the wooden cross does not mean that he became the Savior who bore our sins. The One who receives the judgment for sin in our place is Jesus, who hung on the Cross. We must distinguish between the labor of man and the atonement that the Lord accomplishes.
